1. Information we collect

We collect information you provide when you use Shipit:

Account information (via social sign-in):

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Profile picture

Profile information you add:

  • Username
  • Bio
  • Website URL
  • Social links (Twitter/X, LinkedIn, GitHub)

Product submissions:

  • Product name, tagline, and description
  • Website URL
  • Logo and product images
  • Categories
  • Pricing type (free, freemium, paid)
  • Launch date

Activity data:

  • Products you submit
  • Notification preferences

2. How we use your information

  • Display your public profile to other users
  • Show your submitted products on the platform
  • Send email notifications about your products (based on your settings)
  • Maintain platform integrity and prevent abuse

3. What's public

The following information is visible to all Shipit users:

  • Your profile (name, avatar, bio, website, social links)
  • Products you've submitted

Your email address is never shared publicly.

4. Third-party services

We use the following services to operate Shipit:

  • Firebase - Authentication and database storage (Google Cloud)
  • Vercel - Website hosting
  • Resend - Sending email notifications
  • Stripe - Payment processing for promotions (we never see or store your card details)
  • Vercel Analytics - Privacy-focused, anonymous page view analytics (no personal data collected)

We do not sell your data. We do not use advertising networks or invasive tracking services.

5. Cookies and local storage

We use minimal cookies and local storage to provide you with a better experience:

  • Session cookie - Keeps you logged in securely
  • Theme preference - Remembers your light/dark mode choice (local storage)
  • Draft submissions - Auto-saves your product submission locally

We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or sell your data.

6. Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your profile and personal data are removed. Products you've submitted may be retained but will no longer be associated with your identity.

7. Your controls

You can:

  • Edit your profile information at any time
  • Edit your submitted products
  • Change which email notifications you receive in Settings
  • Delete your entire account in Settings (requires typing "DELETE" to confirm)

8. Security

We use Firebase for authentication and data storage, which provides industry-standard security including encryption in transit and at rest. Access to the database is restricted by security rules that ensure users can only access appropriate data.

9. Changes to this policy

If we make significant changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
