A friend of mine works at a multinational company that had no proper tool for planning delivery routes. The people responsible for scheduling visits to clients were doing it manually, with no way to visualize distances or estimate travel times between stops. I saw a clear opportunity to build something that could genuinely help.
At its core, MapVest solves the problem of organizing geospatial data in a simple, actionable way. The initial focus was delivery route planning — giving teams a visual tool to map their clients, optimize visit sequences, and manage territories. But as we built it, we realized the problem is much broader than logistics.
While developing the product, we discovered that the same tool could serve very different use cases. For example, it could help share critical information in conflict zones — like mapping landmine locations — where having a clear, shared visual overview can literally save lives. It can also be valuable for non-profit organizations that need to track and report points of interest, such as wildlife sightings, protected trees, or environmental hazards. This realization pushed us to make MapVest more generic and flexible, rather than building it exclusively for delivery logistics. The platform evolved from a single-purpose route planner into a versatile mapping tool that adapts to whatever data people need to organize on a map.
